Sounds like a wonderful journey. Thank you for sharing your experiences and your thoughts. I am encouraged by the mention of Lance Armstrong's experience. It's so good to know he's come so far from the days when he was the spokesperson for Michelob Ultra beer.

Yes, I really appreciate that he is speaking out, and with a tone that we rarely see/hear from men. Grateful to be connected and for your work too, Michael!

This one is pure delight! Coincidentally, I'm also traveling this week - solo, for work - and chose to cancel dinner plans with colleagues to sit on the couch in my AirBnB, in my underwear, with a cup of peppermint tea and a "pile" of Substacks I wanted to catch up on. Not Kalsarikannit. Better. Inspiration, a good nights sleep, and no hangover. xx

Being from Finland 🇫🇮 I can contest that kalsarikännit is not a very happy occasion 😂 It feeds into Finnish people’s need to be alone but numb yourself from your thoughts. Quite the conundrum, I agree!

However, I love the idea of dancing in your underwear for no reason! How fun!

Helsinki is beautiful this time of year. ENJOY! 🌸

Thank you for sharing this insight, Ulla! It has been fascinating getting to know some Finnish people along the way and I understand what you mean here better now than even a few days ago. We've loved our time in Finland, especially getting out of the city and into the wilderness a bit. 🤍 🌿 🦌

The nature is absolutely breathtaking in the summertime! I hope you can visit at least one of our thousands of lakes, and get to experience Finnish sauna at its best 🧖🏽‍♀️💕

Loved this, especially because Finland is also so high on my list to visit, but also I’ve been grappling with this theme since returning from Europe (first international trip since 2016!). I found that when traveling I was so overcome by external stimulus and a go-go-go attitude (every minute, meal, etc must count!) that I had no space for meaning making or connection. I was also overcome by the commercialization and overtourism of most places we went. It wasn’t until I sat down at a concert in London (Nils Frahm, SO GOOD) that I was finally able to think and learn about myself again. A good reminder to create space for reflection, although it looks like it comes to you naturally! Safe travels and thanks for sharing ❤️

I loved following your adventures and WOW, you saw Nils Frahm... and in London? 🤯

It feels unfair that I had this time, in a way. With the shared custody arrangement, I have the mixed blessing of time solo in addition to immersive time with kids. I do not reflect this way when traveling with them, FWIW, or at least much, much less.

Welcome home. Let's walk/tea/connect again soon! xx
