Wow wow wow. So insightful and a beautiful writer, just like his mama. I hope you’re feeling all the feels - this is so beautiful. What a gift he has given you. And what a gift you have given him - he truly sees you and what you’ve done for yourself, your family, and others. Please thank him for allowing you to share this piece. 🤍

This is so beautifully written, sensitive and mature especially for a young man in high school. Congratulations mom! Thanks to both of you for sharing it.

Love, love, love this. I can’t imagine how it made you feel to read it. Your son is an excellent writer. And wise beyond his years, thanks in large part to your decision to quit.

When I quit 5.5 years ago, I was fascinated by how interested my kids’ friends were in my decision to quit and the book I was writing about it. I found it so interesting that they seemed to gravitate towards it. Kids notice so much more than we think they do! Your son’s piece is Exhibit A.

Tell your son to keep writing! Kudos to you for being such an inspiration to him and prompting him to see the world a little differently.
