I love the idea of self-resourcing...I have been more present to the things that bring me joy and working on doing more of those. As I get more clear, I am also realizing that it doesn't take much time to feel the joy...even if it's 5 minutes of sunshine outside or stopping to talk with a colleague with no other agenda but to check in with them. thanks for your wisdom

This is beautiful. It is the little things! There is also something to be said for ClearLife giving us greater access to the full experience of emotions, high and low.

You might get a kick out of some of the Jennifer Pattee podcast episode. I pulled this quote from it recently:

"You have to ask yourself, what, what are you dimming?

We think that we're dimming the intensity of our existence of our life just a notch, right? But that's not what we're dimming. The thing that we're dimming is our radiance, our aliveness… our experience of life on this planet. That's what I want. I want to feel my radiance full, full blast. And I want to experience that transcendence and that inner peace that you see in the eyes of the monks and the people who are joyous and the people who are grateful. I want to experience my radiance and the only way I think I can get there is for me to experience the pain. We were put here to grow and the growth comes from the pain and the connection. It’s our is our life force."

I take a walk with my dog most days for lunch. I work from home so sometimes my mind is still stuck back in the morning thinking about the morning. I stop walking, call on Stop-Breathe-Be, and it helps me be back, present, on the walk, connecting with nature.

I love this article. Self-resourcing is a habit I have created ever since getting sober. I think it’s important to note that it takes time to train yourself to do it, which includes listening to your body and mind when they are signaling that you need it. It also takes time to train those that love us how important it is for us to do as this is a behavior, especially for women and even more especially for mothers, that can be a radical change from the selfless persona we are expected to inhabit. My favorite self-resourcing of my body comes with a good long soak in the bath with bubbles and candles and a good book or movie on my tablet. And my favorite for my emotional self is a get-in-the-feelings chat with my best friend. That always energizes me in an incredibly fulfilling and nourishing way. For a quickie, a snuggle with my dog, where I get my fingers deep in her fur and big kisses on her forehead, always lifts me up.
