En Route!
I’m perched at an oddly awkward Italian café in the Frankfurt airport, soon to board our flight home to San Francisco. It’s been a special week with my 13-year old son, visiting with colleagues and friends while exploring Paris, participating in a global AI conference in Amsterdam, and hosting a session for entrepreneurship students at an international Swiss school that means a lot to three generations of our family.
An unexpected perk? This little one has an incredibly soothing effect on my system. I don’t know how or why, but I’m calmer, clearer, and more steady in his presence. We moved somewhat slowly all week with more scheduling buffers than I usually tolerate, and I feel like cherished more moments than usual. It felt like a gift. In many ways, it was.
Seasons.
Heading home, I am keenly aware of the enduring “Spring” season of life I know I’m in. After a somewhat quiet and contemplative 2023 (a “Winter” of sorts as I treated breast cancer and did my best to slow down), a lot is coming forth right now… My book is in an important writing/editing stage with my publisher, Soren and I are leveling up in various ways and together offering a workshop at MEA in December, and other events and gatherings, including two upcoming Wisdom 2.0 events, are taking shape. Alongside it all, we are also navigating a solid set of meetings in our efforts to raise Wisdom Ventures Fund II. Phew!
So, no deep learnings or reflections today, but I do want to take a moment to share some details and links around what’s coming in order from most intimate to most collective. What makes these special is YOU and I’d love to connect with you at one ore more. Feel free to reach out with any questions as they arise :)
Hope to see some of you in coming months!
Sangha Saturdays (Zoom)
Tomorrow, October 12th, 9:00 AM PT / Noon ET
Link for invite here.
These are monthly gatherings offered via Zoom (and occasionally in person in Mill Valley). An hour long, we start with a brief meditation, a bit of context / topic setting, and then open it up for exploration among us. Though not focused on “sobriety” or “recovery” those of us who attend are actively exploring a life without dimmers, and for many of us, that prior dimmer was alcohol. Others include food, generosity, pot, and work.
We cover a range of topics, but seem to often return to the topic of relationships (with ourselves and others) as we navigate our own Clear Life journeys. Tomorrow’s opening theme: How to not self-abandon (in relationships, social settings, professional contexts, and family life, among others).
To join, please complete this simple form and you’ll be added to the calendar invitations.
MEA Online Event: Harvesting the Seeds of Change: Embracing Reinvention
October 15, 2024 11:00 AM PT 2:00 PM ET
🔜 Link to register (for free) here.
I haven’t done one of these yet, but I hear they are dynamic and fun! We’ll be sharing more information about our upcoming December workshop and the themes underlying the reinvention track at the Modern Elder Academy (MEA). From the site:
Join us for “Harvesting the Seeds of Change: Embracing Reinvention,” where Cecily Mak,
Gordhamer, Robin Roffer, and Jill Nykoliation will explore transformation through personal growth. This live event will dive into topics like releasing unwanted habits, embracing reinvention, and discovering your truest self. It’s a powerful opportunity to gain insights and tools for your next chapter.
The 5-Day Workshop: A New Year Reset: Shedding Unwanted Habits with Self-Grace and Presence
December 9th-14th, Baja, Mexico
Amazing humans in a beautiful and healing place exploring the power of presence and The Eight Awarenesses as we wrap up a wild 2024 and enter 2025 ready for what’s next! Registration and additional information here. Space is limited to 28 participants.
Sent to my closest ClearLife followers last week:
20 months ago, I attended a weeklong workshop at Chip Conley’s Modern Elder Academy (MEA) in Baja, Mexico. It was there and then as part of the workshop that I set the goals of (1) starting a ClearLife/TGIF newsletter, (2) launching a podcast, and (3) getting a book deal for The Eight Awarenesses work.
Given that all three of these things happened over the next 16 months, I have a special place in my heart for MEA. Magic truly happens there! It's the blend of purpose and ease, intention and rest, work and play that makes this place so special (the awesome food, accommodations, movement opportunities, special humans, and location directly on the beach don't hurt either!).
As you can imagine, it felt like a dream come true when the opportunity to offer a workshop on The Eight Awarenesses at MEA presented itself.
Two Wisdom 2.0 Events Coming Up!

The Future of Wellbeing; AI, Longevity, & Human Flourishing, Co-Hosted by Mark Hyman, San Francisco, Tuesday October 29th, “It’s not about adding years to your life, but adding life to your years.” AMEN. Also on the stage, the awesome Sunita Mohanty, Dr. Rachel Carlton Abrams, and Dr. Sara Gottfried. Let’s go ⚡️🌟⚡️
I love learning with you. Are there areas you want to see covered in future offerings? Ideas for where ClearLife should be? Topics I should do a future deep dive on? What’s moving you right now? Please share.
Signing off as I board this flight… we’ve got this, right?
Love.
